cng in de eurotunnel?

Beste aardgasrijders.

 

Ik ben onze volgende trip aant plannen richting verenigd koninkrijk. Mijn plan was om via de eurotunnel te gaan. Weet iemand van jullie of dit toegelaten is met een CNG wagen?

Tom... volgens  de officiële website van eurotunnel mag het niet... 
Die vraag is nooit eerder in mij opgekomen.

Echter als je geen sticker plakt en er niets van zegt... zouden ze het dan weten? (niet dat ik je wil aanzetten tot omzeilen van de regelgeving)
Wederom wordt LPG en CNG gelijkgetrokken...

Je kan wel een losse gasfles in je wagen leggen, dat is dan wel weer toegestaan, daar kan blijkaar niets mee gebeuren tijdens transport

Oei, dat is wel een tegenvaller. Los van het feit dat LPG niet hetzelfde is als CNG of LNG, ze zeggen wel "and all other flammable gas". Eigenlijk zijn ze dus wel consequent...

We moeten natuurlijk ook niet flauw doen dat CNG, LNG, LPG of een ander gas in dergelijke tunnel veel sneller een hevige impact kan hebben dan benzine of diesel...Ik raad iedereen CNG aan, maar het is daarom niet al rozengeur en maneschijn

Overigens ben ik gaan grasduinen (ik veronderstel dat deze regels gelden voor de hele EU?):

In hoeverre wordt rekening gehouden met voertuigen rijdend op LNG en CNG door tunnels?

De huidige regelgeving voor het gebruik van motorvoertuigen gaat er vanuit dat als een motorvoertuig een kenteken heeft gekregen van de Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (RDW) deze toegang heeft tot het volledige wegennet (Nederlands, Europees etc.). Dit betekent ook tot de daarin aanwezige tunnels. Het maakt dus niet uit of een voertuig wordt aangedreven door een traditionele brandstof zoals diesel, benzine of LPG of door een ‘nieuwe’ brandstof zoals LNG, CNG of waterstof. Voor het vervoer van deze stoffen geldt andere wetgeving (ADR) en zijn er wel beperkingen voor het transport door tunnels mogelijk

En om toe te voegen aan het Eurotunnel verhaal:

-Het mag ook niet als je "gastank" leeg is...

Maar het is inderdaad absurd dat je wel gasflessen mag meenemen: maximum 50kg (over meer dan 1 fles verdeeld). Eurotunnel...seriously?

tjah, die Fransözen en Britten zijn idd niet zo CNG minded.

@CNGarni, valt de eurotunnel wel onder het wegennet? is dit niet gewoon een (private) infrastructuur met een spoorlijntje in?

ik vraag me trouwens nog steeds af hoe wettelijk het verbodsbord is met daarin de CNG letters?

ook compleet oneerlijk is dat de waterstofpioniers zonder morren worden toegelaten. dit terwijl H2, volgens mij minstens even gevaarlijk is als CNG

Ik bedoelde ook niet dat de Eurotunnel onder het wegennet viel, ik vroeg mij af hoe het eigenlijk zat met andere (soms zeer lange) tunnels 

Ze zeggen "and all other flammable gas", dus volgens mij valt waterstofgas daar zeker ook onder

Het is missschien wat laat, maar ik ben in vorige zomer (2018) naar Londen gereden met m'n nieuwe CNG wagen (onbewust dat ook CNG effectief niet mocht) en ze hebben mij hier nergens tegen gehouden/iets op gezegd.
Ik ben gewoon de trein kunnen oprijden. Ik trek nu binnenkort terug het kanaal over, maar ga toch zien dat ik een minder opvallende sticker kan aanbrengen, je weet maar nooit of ze moeilijk doen deze keer...

Gewoon zeggen dat het "portable gas containers" zijn? want dat mag wel....
Of zelfs als "Fixed gas containers" zolang je kan laten zien hoe vol ze zitten....

Bij af-fabriek installaties kan je dat toch altijd op de 1 of andere manier aflezen ?

Zelfs bij na-installatie installeren ze een eenvoudig systeem met een aantal led lampjes.

Enkel vermijden om de CNG vol te tanken voordat je aankomt aan de terminal ?

 

Wel vervelend dat GB helemaal een woestijn is voor CNG.

Even de support dienst van de tunnel "geplaagd" maar het is duidelijk dat het hun ook verward... Logica is er helaas niet in te vinden.

I have a car on CNG which is not allowed. If I have a car that is not on CNG I could transport another car that is on CNG since it had FIXED gas containers and the fuel gauge can show the amount of remaining fuel. Why is the car on its own not allowed then? Is this outdated? Its ridiculous and counter intuitive.

We can only have vehicles that run on Petrol/diesel or Electric No vehicles without these types of fuel can enter the tunnel unfortunately

 

My car also runs on petrol

So i could run on petrol and declare the tanks as fixed gas containers then?

Because that is allowed according to the website

If you are taking any vehicle with the capability of running on flammable gasses these are not permitted

 

So if I remove the capability by removing the fuse that enables this it is okay?

Then it can not run on flammable gasses. Btw, petrol engines run on flammable gasses too.... CNG car is using a petrol engine...

and you can run on petrol fumes in a petrol cat

If a petrol car carries the gas containers themselves it is okay. But if you can drive on them it is not? There is no logic in this

LPG and similar gasses are not permitted

 

A car has to undergo crash tests, regular gas containers do not. So factually a gas car is even safer. Also, again petrol forms a flammable gas...

They are permitted in containers right?

Just to clarify the vehicle cannot be capable of running on any flammable gasses even if the tank is removed. But you can transport gasses in the vehicle in canisters

I have just advised that this is due to the pressure in the tunnel. If you vehicle is capable of running on a gas we cannot accept you for travel.

 

And I told you that the vehicle is certified for the pressure in the tunnel. So your reason is not sound. But can you confirm that this is the reason?

It would have been understandable for aftermarket installations, yes. But not for standard factory produced vehicles that are certified for this use. So there is an active discrimination. I even was in contact with people during my research that didn't know about this and use the tunnel multiple times. What is your reply to this?
