The Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) announced this today, reports ZDNet. Graphene has long been seen as a promising material to replace the current lithium-ion batteries. Samsung Electronics' research arm has successfully synthesized a "graphene ball" that can be used to make lithium-ion batteries last longer and charge faster, the company has said. According to Samsung, the technology could provide a smartphone battery that is fully charged in 12 minutes. The capacity could also grow by 45 percent. According to Samsung, the battery remains stable up-to 60 degrees Celsius and could therefore also be used in electric cars.
